SCOPE chapter of Biomedical Research and Healthcare
The overall aim of this domain is to strengthen biomedical/health care research system with productive outcomes in Pakistan through an active collaboration with different research organizations within Pakistan and abroad.
We have recently initiated collaboration with Professor Dr. M Iqbal Chowdry, Director of International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), HEJ, Karachi and Dr. Atia who is also affiliated with ICCBS. ICCBS is currently a top ranked and leading organization in Pakistan actively working in wide areas of biomedical sciences, which includes investigations of different diseases such as cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, neuronal disorders, skin disorders and bone growth disorders. ICCBS has a unique library of thousands of unexplored natural compounds with the potential to be used in the treatment different disease conditions. We aim to improve the research capacity by establishing new experimental model systems with cutting edge technology/knowledge and skills to test these compounds against different diseases.
We are also interested in projects on use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) system in biomedical research and healthcare systems.
Farasat Zaman obtained his Ph.D in medicine from Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm and postdoctoral training from University of Toronto. Currently, he is working as Assistant Professor/Scientist at Karolinska Institutet and visiting faculty at ICCBS.
